The fastest way to check your RTA fines is on the RTA's Unified Mobility System at ums.rta.ae, or through the RTA Dubai and Dubai Police apps. Type in your plate number, traffic file number, or Emirates ID, pass the security check, and everything shows up on one screen: the fine, the amount, the date, and any black points. You can pay by card right there.
If you've used an older guide that sends you bouncing between four different websites, that method is out of date. RTA has pulled most of it into one place. Here's how it actually works in 2026, what the common fines cost, how black points affect you, and how to check a road-crossing (jaywalking) fine.
How do I check my RTA fines in Dubai?
Go to ums.rta.ae, pick how you want to search, and enter your details. Viewing is free and takes about a minute. You'll see every fine linked to you before you pay a single dirham.
Three ways to search work: by plate, by traffic file number, or by Emirates ID. The steps are the same either way.
- Open ums.rta.ae/violations/public-fines/fines-search.
- Pick your search method: plate details, traffic file number, or Emirates ID.
- Enter the details (for a plate, that's the plate type, code, and number) and clear the "I'm not a robot" box.
- Hit Search. Your fines, amounts, and black points load on screen.
- Tick the ones you want to clear and pay by Visa or Mastercard.
If you own more than one car, use the Emirates ID search. It pulls fines from every vehicle registered under your name, so you don't have to check each one separately.
How to check RTA fines: the four official channels
| Channel | Best for | What you need |
| RTA / UMS website (ums.rta.ae) | A quick one-off check | Plate, traffic file, or Emirates ID |
| RTA Dubai app | Regular drivers who save a card | Plate type, code, number |
| Dubai Police app / website | Fines plus criminal-traffic status | Plate, licence, or fine number |
| MoI portal / DubaiNow app | Fines across all seven emirates | UAE Pass or vehicle details |
RTA website (the UMS portal)
This is the main one. Open rta.ae or jump straight to the UMS fines page, choose your search type, and enter your details. You'll see the violation, the date, and the amount before you decide to pay.
Dubai Police app or website
Dubai Police shows your fines and flags anything that has escalated to a criminal-traffic matter. In the Dubai Police app or site, go to Traffic Services, then Fines Inquiry and Payment, and search by licence, plate, traffic file, or fine number.
RTA Dubai app
Get the RTA Dubai app from the App Store or Google Play, open the Vehicles and Fines tab, tap Pay Fine, and enter your plate type, code, and number. Tap View Fines and your pending fines and black points appear.
Ministry of Interior or DubaiNow
If you drive between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, the MoI portal and the DubaiNow app show fines from every emirate in one list. Log in with UAE Pass, choose your emirate, and enter your vehicle details.
A quick note: some older articles still point you to Emirates Vehicle Gate (evg.ae). Most Dubai fine services now live under UMS and the RTA app, so start there instead.
Can I check UAE fines with my Emirates ID?
Yes. Both the RTA UMS portal and the DubaiNow app let you search by Emirates ID. Choose that option, type in your ID number, clear the security check, and the system lists every fine tied to the vehicles in your name. You don't need your traffic file number for this.
It's the easiest route if you have more than one car, or if you simply don't have your traffic file number handy.
Can I check car fines with my plate number in the UAE?
Yes, and it's the method most people use. On ums.rta.ae or the RTA Dubai app, choose to search by plate, then enter the plate type (private or commercial), the plate code (the letter or number), the plate number, and the emirate where the car is registered. Your fines and black points come up in seconds.
You can view fines by plate without logging in. You'll only need a card once you decide to pay.
How to check a jaywalking (road-crossing) fine in Dubai
A road-crossing fine sits with your Emirates ID rather than a car, so check it by entering your Emirates ID on ums.rta.ae or in the DubaiNow app. Any pedestrian fine shows up next to your vehicle fines.
Dubai does not treat jaywalking lightly. Crossing where you shouldn't, or ignoring a pedestrian signal, costs AED 400. And since the federal traffic law that took effect on 29 March 2025, the stakes are much higher if your crossing causes an accident: fines run from AED 10,000 up to AED 50,000, with at least three months in jail in the worst cases, especially on fast roads.
The way to avoid all of this is boring but reliable. Use the marked crossings, the footbridges, and the underpasses, and wait for the green man.
