Charging Options in Dubai:

Home Charging:

Charge your electric vehicle at home, treating it like any other household appliance. EV chargers can be installed behind the meter, and the electricity usage cost will be seamlessly integrated into your monthly DEWA bill.

DEWA Green Chargers – EV Green Charger Initiative:

Launched in 2015, this initiative aims to make Dubai a smart and eco-friendly city. Public charging stations are strategically placed across Dubai to encourage the transition from traditional to electric vehicles. Under this initiative, popular electric car models in the UAE, such as Tesla and Chevrolet Bolt, are supported. With this, you get an EV Green Charger Card service that simplifies monthly billing for charging.

QR Code Scanning:

DEWA introduces a convenient feature allowing motorists to charge their EVs by scanning QR codes. It’s available at 300 charging stations across Dubai, and users can access this service through the DEWA Smart App.

Types of Charging Stations in Dubai:

DEWA provides three types of electric car charging stations:

Public Charger:

  • Features 2×22 kW AC with double Type 2 Socket.

  • Depending on the vehicle and battery type, it can fully charge in 2 to 4 hours.

Fast Charger:

  • Provides 80% charge within 20 to 45 minutes.

  • Found at Dubai petrol stations, featuring 43 kW AC with Type 2 Socket, 50 kW DC ChadeMO, and Combo CCS Sockets.

Wall Box Charger:

  • A 22 kW AC charger with a single Type 2 Socket.

  • Recharges an EV battery within 2 to 4 hours.

Current Charging Infrastructure in Dubai:

DEWA has successfully installed 300 electric charging stations across the emirate, strategically placed in airports, petrol pumps, shopping centers, offices, hospitals, residential complexes, and other public areas. The locations are accessible through various digital platforms, including Google Maps, Apple Maps, Careem, and dedicated charging station platforms like Plugshare and Electromaps.

While Green Chargers at DEWA Customer Happiness Centre's operate from 07:30 am to 12:00 am, electric car charging stations at petrol pumps and public locations are available 24/7.
